The former defender of Cagliari and Lecce, Fabio Macellarispoke to the microphones of the Domus Rossoblù magazine in view of the direct battle for salvation between the rossoblùs Claudio Ranieri and the Giallorossi of Luca Gotti. Below are some excerpts from his statements.

On the match between Cagliari and Lecce

“I hope they both save themselves. They are two places that deserve to stay in Serie A. They really have two very similar fans. Lecce is ahead and can afford a defeat. I hope Cagliari wins.”

On the experience at Cagliari

“Wearing the shirt that Gigi Riva wore was something unique. It wasn’t a difficult choice. The negotiation, however, was complex. Lecce didn’t want to let me go and only a crazy offer at the time for a player who had never played in Serie A unblocked everything. I remember that when I arrived in Cagliari, President Cellino said to me jokingly: “If you don’t let me recover the money I spent on you”. I reassured him and I think I repaid him on the field. Then with the move to Inter he recovered everything with interest (laughs ed.)”.

On today’s Cagliari

“There are a lot of young people, but Ranieri is doing a great job. The coach is the extra gear. His passion for this team and the love that the public has for him has created the right alchemy to make everyone stronger.”
