Pesaro, 5 May 2024 – Packs of mozzarella for pizzerias recalled from the sale “per suspected high bacterial load on the raw material and suspected use of unauthorized substances”. This is the withdrawal and recall procedure initiated by the company Marche farms following the first results of the searches and samplings ordered by the Prosecutor’s Office of Pesaro.

The result of the analyzes on the samples highlighted critical issues, including the microbial load above the limit. During the second operation on Friday, the Nas of Ancona, the Inspectors of the Ministry and the Ast were also cheeses and mozzarella seizedabout ten tons, all products derived from milk that had been sampled during the first search of April 22nd. Friday’s seizures are in addition to the further seizures made last week when 90 tonnes of milk and 110 tonnes of dairy products were sealed, together with around 2.5 tonnes of adulterated substances including caustic soda and hydrogen peroxide.

The procedure of appeal came to fruition yesterday with the publication of thealert on the Ministry of Health website, where, among other elements, the production batches (L2411300 L2411400 L2411500) expiring on 22, 23 and 24 May 2024, the identification mark of the establishment/producer (IT 11 21 CE) and the company name are reported of which the product “Fattorie Marchigiane Cons. Coop. Agricola” is marketed. It is the same company that initiated the recall due to potential risk for consumers following the elements that emerged from the analyzes carried out on 22 April during the massive search as part of the investigation into food fraud and product adulteration in the Montemaggiore company controlled by Tre Valli Cooperlat. The packages that will be recalled are those in the one kilo and two and a half kilo formats and therefore probably used mostly in pizzerias.

“For the principle as a precaution, do not use the product and return it to the production plant”, is the warning contained in the alert document published by the Ministry. The AST veterinary food hygiene service has therefore started the rapid alert system required by European legislation, the so-called ‘RASFF’. It is an alarm system, in the form of a network, for the notification of a direct or indirect risk to human health due to food or feed. This system allows to facilitate further controls by entities in all the parts of Italy where the product was destined but also to allow the population, through direct consultation of ministerial information channels, to know in real time the products that present a potential food safety risk.

Goes on without stopping, therefore, the investigation which involved the production plant of Montemaggiore al Metauro. During the second search last Friday, further sampling and investigations were carried out. Under the scrutiny of the investigators, in particular, the milk pasteurization machine (which, however, has not yet been seized) but also smartphones and PCs seized during the first search.
