Access to the national health system for transgender people and the relationship between discrimination and the right to health. The lawyer – and first woman to lead a men’s professional team – Carolina Morace, who is running with the M5S in the next European elections, spoke about it on Saturday afternoon at the Michelangelo hotel: the initiative was developed in collaboration with the Esedomani association in part of the Terni Pride events, scheduled for May 25th. With her also the activist and spokesperson of the gay party for LGBT rights Fabrizio Marrazzo, the psychologist and psychotherapist Paola Babocci, the endocrinologist Giulia Senofonte and the bearers of experience Francesco Pietro De Angelis and Giulia Grani. «There is a lot to do. In reality, the European Community – in Morace’s words – is very sensitive to civil rights issues, especially regarding access to the healthcare system and combating discrimination. Exploring them is important, some countries are further ahead than others. We need to continue to raise awareness and probably add something to the European Community’s charter of rights. Especially where it says that there must be no discrimination based on sex, I would also add on the identification of genders.” Trans inclusion? «Our representatives are often disconnected from the base. Transgenders are accepted but are also more discriminated against than homosexuals for jobs and other things. We should guarantee a right to fairness and treatment.” Also present was Luca Montali, number one at Esedomani.
