A prisoner of Senegalese origin who escaped from Massa prison has been traced. The man had not returned for a few days from the external job to which he was admitted. This was announced by the Sappe union, explaining that the man was identified yesterday evening” in Marina di Massa by the men of the Massa penitentiary police and subsequently it was possible to “bring the escapee back to the institute”.

The prisoner, explains in a note the regional secretary for Tuscany of the Sappe Francesco Oliviero, was identified by two penitentiary policemen free from duty who chased him: “Understanding that he had been recognized” the inmate then took out “a large dimensions, shouting at the officers to move away and then flee. At that point the colleagues alerted the department commander and the other police forces”.

After a phone call with a prison officer, the prisoner then returned to prison. According to Sappe general secretary Donato Capece “the capture of the man was conducted in a perfect manner from an operational point of view, with great professionalism and with the utmost discretion and safety”.
