Safety and health in the workplace come first. And they must be for everyone. This is the common thread of the interventions that took place during the well-attended conference on the topic organized by Cna Costruzioni of Ragusa. This was highlighted by the police commissioner of Ragusa Vincenzo Trombadore, Giusy Saraceno, president of the Order of Labor Consultants and the president of the Anmil of Ragusa, Maria Agnello, in their greeting speeches. This was clarified with force and competence by Bruno Giordano, magistrate at the Court of Cassation and former director of the National Labor Inspectorate, who in his speech also underlined how a single body is needed that knows how to coordinate the many institutions responsible for control. This was stated by Paolo Ravalli, director of Spresal at the ASP of Ragusa, illustrating the company information system for prevention in the workplace (SIAP), a useful tool for citizens, businesses, healthcare workers and public bodies, where updated and reliable information on health and safety at work issues.
This was confirmed by the president of the Territorial Cna of Ragusa, Giuseppe Santocono, who spoke of a necessary event “for a useful discussion between all the parties involved in the context of a historical period in which an assumption of responsibility is necessary which cannot no longer be delegated but which must constitute ground on which to build solid foundations for the future”, Pino Brullo, head of the environment and safety sector of Cna and Giorgio Stracquadanio, territorial manager of Cna Edilizia. The latter, in their interventions, underlined how the many owners of artisan construction companies care about the safety of their construction sites because even before being entrepreneurs they are workers who share, together with those who collaborate with them, risks and worries. Finally, during the conference, in the various interventions, it was highlighted from many quarters how the new tool of the points-based license for construction companies is only an additional cost as well as a new bureaucratic obligation for the companies themselves. The national president of Cna Costruzioni, Enzo Ponzio, present at the meeting and who was entrusted with the conclusions, highlighted that “all this, in fact, will not be able to counteract the anomalies which, unfortunately, generate insecurity on the construction sites of those companies that they have always operated illegally. Furthermore, the exemption for companies with SOA certification represents unjustified discrimination from a competitive point of view. Safety is important to us entrepreneurs first and foremost and is not protected with bureaucracy, but with respect for rules which must be clear and applicable”.
