My Marta, thanks to her courage and the help of those who open her eyes, is able to glimpse a different future, through study and commitment.” So the Roman actress Ludovica Martino talks about her feelings in playing the role of Marta. The protagonist of “My place is here”, the film set in rural Calabria in the 1940s, against the backdrop of the social changes of post-war Italy. A film also shot in Calabria in Gerace.
In the columns of “La Stampa”, the 27-year-old actress also explains a background to the film which sees her together with Marco Leonardi, who plays Lorenzo, the other protagonist. «It was very bad, I confess – she says about the scene in which she is whipped by her violent father. I was scared, I was really crying. That frustrated scene was fake, but it really left its mark on me, I felt like I was sharing Marta’s pain, a prisoner of an unchosen life. During the interview given, Martino delves into the condition of women and the harassment they still have to suffer.
