A accident on Work occurred last night at the sugar factory in Toasts. The person who lost his life was a 46-year-old from Latiano, an employee of an external company who, according to what has been reconstructed, was carrying out maintenance work on the system belt. The events occurred shortly after midnight. Police, Spesal, 118 and firefighters were on site.
The arm severed by the tape
According to what we understand, the worker was engaged on behalf of an external company in some maintenance activities on the plant, when, for reasons still under investigation, the tape severed his arm, causing serious bleeding. All rescue attempts by the 118 health workers were in vain. The accident occurred after midnight in the factory which is located on the road to Fiume Piccolo. The 46-year-old’s work colleagues raised the alarm. The firefighters also intervened on site, who recovered the body by transporting it to the ground floor, the Spesal inspectors and the police. The magistrate on duty was informed of the incident, who opened an investigation to establish the dynamics and possible responsibilities. The area in which the accident occurred was seized upon request of the Brindisi Prosecutor’s Office for further investigations.
