Mayor Nicola Fioritaaccompanied by the deputy mayor Giusy Iemma and the chief of staff Pasquale Squillacemet this morning Giusy Orlandomother of Davide Ferrerio, the 21-year-old boy who in August 2022, while on holiday in Crotone with his family, was brutally beaten and has never regained consciousness since.

Giusy Orlando, before arriving in the capital to participate in the hearing in the Court of Appeal in the trial of one of the suspects for the attack on her son, had hoped for the presence of a representative of the Municipality “who – she said – would help us he was close to us in those tragic hours.” In fact, it will be remembered that Davide Ferrerio, immediately after the attack he suffered, spent the following days in the intensive care unit of the Pugliese hospital, before being transferred to his city.

The touching meeting

“It was a touching meeting – commented the mayor – one of those that reach the deepest chords of the soul. We greatly appreciated the hope of our presence, expressed by Giusy Orlando, because we experienced that event up close, on a human level before anything else. It was the feelings of deepest solidarity that led us to ensure that his stay in the city to care for his son took place with the greatest possible serenity, considering the tragedy of those moments. An event that has inevitably created a bond with the city that remains strong.”
