The Island promotes tourism in the United Arab Emirates. The Todde Council: “We open new markets”

An appointment to tell the story Sardinia to new expanding markets, especially after the inauguration of the route Olbia-Dubai which will connect the Island to the United Arab Emirates. The Region will participate, from 6 to 9 May 2024, in theArabian travel marketthe most important international fair dedicated to inbound and outbound tourism, at the Dubai world trade center.

This is a growing market that promises to be strategic for the island’s next tourist seasons. The new flight will operate every Tuesday and Saturday from 15 June to 31 August 2024 and will be presented in a press conference at the event, in which the regional councilor for Tourism, Franco Cuccuredduwith Jeyhun Efendisenior vice president commercial operations Flydubaiit’s at Mario Garau and Giovanna Lorigadirector and deputy commercial director of Aviation and Marketing respectively Olbia airport.

“It is the first fair in which I participate as a councilor – declares Cuccureddu – and I am confident that it can be the opportunity to approach an interesting new market: I am convinced that the target that we will be able to intercept on this occasion, with the activation of the new route, activated experimentally already last summer, could be particularly important for tourism on our island. The objective is to work as best as possible on our tourism products, which can meet the needs of the Emirati public, in terms of quality and variety. We thank flydubai for having planned this direct intercontinental connection, already experimentally activated last year, and we hope that in the future we can further expand the offer of direct scheduled flights with non-European Union countries, in terms of frequency and destinations. and of Sardinian airports involved”.

The relevant public, explains councilor Franco Cuccureddu, is not only that of the Emirates, but also, perhaps above all, that of the numerous freelancers, many Europeans and Americans who live in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates, and who in the summer, when the temperatures there are very high, they are looking for a place with a milder climate for their holidays. In this sense, Sardinia represents for them the destination perfect, with its seaside offer which, given the summer period, will certainly be at the center of the narrative that will be brought to Dubai, but also with the other products, which can be marketed all year round. The cultural offer (with the Nuragic civilization or the Domus de Janasofficially candidates to enter the list of world heritage sites drawn up byUNESCO), the hiking one (with routes such as the legendary “Selvaggio Blu”, one of the most famous via ferrata networks in the world), the naturalistic one or the food and wine one. Without forgetting the tourism of the villages, which is growing strongly also because, thanks to the work in the area, it is enriched with new events, or the attraction of large entertainment events, with artists of international level who, especially in summer, come meet again in Sardinia for festivals and concerts.

“In the summer period, it is obvious, our strong point is certainly the sea – concludes the councilor – but all the other attractors contribute to completing a holiday offer which we trust will find great interest in the Emirates but it should not be remembered that the Dubai airport is also one of the main air transport hubs and so this direct connection potentially makes Sardinia accessible to visitors from all over the world”.
