PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – “All the departments of the Region have concluded the reassessment of the residual liabilities, for which payments of around two billion euros have been released in favor of businesses and, in general, the beneficiaries”. This was announced by the President of the Region Renato Schifani, at the end of the council meeting in which the general accountant and the managers of the departments who were late in completing the procedures were heard. In recent days, President Schifani had stigmatized the “intolerable delay, despite the fact that the Government and Parliament had done their part by approving the budget within the terms of the law, as had not happened for many years”. This morning, the update that all checks have finally been completed and that the offices can start issuing payment orders: 900 million in regional resources and one billion one hundred million in extra-regional funds.
“The optimal use of financial resources, in the ways and times foreseen – underlines the president – is a priority of the regional government. Beyond today’s positive news, we believe it is essential that, for the future, general managers respond quickly and within the expected timescales to all requests from general accounting, with particular attention to those aimed at producing the information elements necessary for the preparation of accounting documents such as the budget forecast, the ordinary reassessment of active and passive residuals and the general statement. Failure to comply – concludes Schifani – will be considered serious managerial failure and will be subject to a specific assessment by the regional council for the application of any sanctions, including revocation of the assignment”.
