In recent days, the Gallarate State Police have tracked down the perpetrator of the theft of a mobile phone and the subsequent extortion attempt – an even more serious crime – which occurred against a boy in the city.
The victim was traveling by car at walking pace in the center of Gallarate, sitting on the passenger side with the window partially down. Suddenly a young man stuck his arm through the window and with a sudden move took possession of the cell phone which the victim held between his legs, trying to disappear into the crowd.
The robbed man immediately called the emergency number 112, providing a detailed description of the perpetrator, and in the meantime began to follow him, until “intercepting” him at the station: at this point the young man asked the victim for 50 euros for “free” the cell phone. The victim said no and the young man ran away.
Finally, at 1.30 am the victim caught up with her extortionist again, again in the station area. This time the arrival of the police car allowed him to be stopped and identified: a young citizen Moroccan, irregular result on the national territoryexpelled several times and reported to the judicial authorities on four occasions for failure to comply with the Police Commissioner’s order to leave the national territory, as well as reported for manifest drunkenness and convicted of robbery.
The phone found was returned to its rightful owner while the extortionist was arrested and taken to prison in Busto Arsizio.
