Arenzano. The qualifiers for the Italian judo championships, class Beginners B (13/14 years) and Absolutes (black belts only) took place on Sunday 28 April in the Arenzano sports hall.
The Yama Arashi Judo Savona team brought two athletes to seek the pass for the national teams: the most “veteran” of the agonists, Giulia Meinardi, born in 1990, and the youngest, Alessio Narteni, born in 2010. Both won their respective categories, gaining the chance to compete in the national finals: Giulia will face the Assoluti in Perugia on 12 May, Alessio his peers in Olbia on 26 May.
Great satisfaction for the coach and multiple medal winner Armando Vettori: “Today two athletes from Savona obtained the pass to the Italian championships; including Leila Di Napoli, a cadet class who won the qualifications in her category last February, we haven’t achieved such results for years. Giulia has been to the national finals several times and in June she will be at the European masters championships with me; Alessio, on the other hand, is demonstrating constant growth and incredible dedication every race. Last year Alessio qualified by winning his category but did not participate in the finals due to a small injury, it was very important that he had the opportunity to participate in a national championship again”.
Also at the race, as athletic trainer, is the coach Arianna Vettori, who will compete in the European Sumo championships in Greece at the end of May.
