Neither alcohol nor anything else. No to glass and no to any can. Milan against the wild nightlife with the new ordinance signed by the mayor, Giuseppe Sala, which provides for a stop to glass and not only in 12 areas of the city. The provision will be in force from midnight on May 3rd and until June 1st and prohibits, from 10 pm to 5 am, all types of neighborhood businesses, medium and large sales structures, commercial activities, takeaway artisans, public businesses, vending machines, street food and street food from selling or giving away for any reason alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in bottles and glass or can containers, even free of charge”.

The provision allows the sale in paper or plastic containers of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks after tapping or pouring. And the use of glass for serving drinks is permitted exclusively inside the premises or in the outdoor areas with table service. The areas affected by this provision are precisely 12, ranging from the Arco della Pace, to the Darsena area, Navigli, Ticinese, Gae Aulenti, Garibaldi and Brera, Bicocca, the 5 Vie, Politecnico, via Sarpi and via Melzo. On May 18th, the anti-wild nightlife ordinance that the Municipality is preparing will come into force and will last until November, which will regulate takeaways and outdoor seating.

In recent days, however, there had been a controversy over the possibility of eating ice cream after midnight while walking in the center or in the nightlife districts, due to the anti-sale and take-away ordinance. In the council commission, the Municipality’s Security Councilor Marco Granelli had clarified that there will be no ban on sale and takeaway for ice cream because the ordinance would have focused above all on drinks and in particular on alcohol as later happened.
