Caserta hospital, 30% of total beds cut

Predictably, the temporary suspension of 177 beds at the “Sant’Anna e San Sebastiano” hospital in Caserta has shaken not only public opinion but also regional politics. After the recent communication from the General Management regarding the start of a demolition and reconstruction intervention of some buildings of the Caserta hospital structure, the Regional Councilor of the League, Antonella Piccerillo, immediately intervened: “How does President De Luca intend protect the Province of Caserta which loses, even if temporarily, such an important service?” – asks the opposition member, announcing a question addressed to the Governor of Campania with responsibility for healthcare, Vincenzo De Luca.

“The works announced will affect approximately 177 out of 645 beds, raising the level of concern among citizens. For this reason, I trust in the work of the Council to ensure that adequate countermeasures are adopted to avoid risking an emergency within the emergency regarding an already flooded hospital and increasingly less competitive, due to the lack of staff. The cut, although temporary, of almost 30% of the total number of beds will lead to a movement of users towards some hospitals in Terra di Lavoro, which are also already short of staff. the ED of the Marcianise hospital is working at a reduced rate due to renovation works, and this weighs terribly on that of the provincial capital. In the hope that De Luca will provide solutions to the citizens, I await a response regarding the concrete interventions planned before face inevitable suppression, even if temporary.”
