In the next few hours, rain, thunderstorms and even hail will return to many regions of the country due to a clear worsening of the weather.
Despite the African anticyclone’s attempt to extend its dominant influence over Italy in recent days, its power has proven insufficient to guarantee prolonged atmospheric stability. After a short period characterized by warmer and sunnier weather conditions, the weather in Italy It’s taking a turn for the worse again.
The first signs of this change appeared during the evening of Tuesday 30 April, however, the worst is expected precisely in the next few hours when we expect the formation of a cyclonic vortex west of Sardinia.
Consequently, the weather will worsen significantly, with a particularly strong impact on the regions of the north-west, especially on Piedmont and a large part of Sardinia, as well as on the Tyrrhenian sectors of the center up to Campania. Intensifying rainfall and localized thundershowers are expected in these areas.
As the day progressed, the front of bad weather it will move towards the rest of the North, although with less extensive rainfall, mainly affecting large areas of Emilia Romagna and the Triveneto. It is important to point out that heavy rainfall is expected in Piedmont, Tuscany and Lazio, even in the form of showers thunderstorms.
It is essential to pay particular attention to temperatureswhich, especially in areas affected by bad weather, will suffer a significant decrease, contributing to a decidedly cooler and less comfortable climate compared to previous days.
For the rest of the country, variable conditions are expected with alternating clouds and sunny spells, especially in the South, where the climate will still remain unusually warm for the period.
CIVIL PROTECTION ALERT
Based on available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection in agreement with the regions involved, who are responsible for activating the civil protection systems in the territories concerned, has issued a new warningadverse weather conditions. Weather phenomena, impacting different areas of the country, could lead to hydrogeological and hydraulic criticalities which are reported, in a national summary, in the national criticality and alert bulletin which can be consulted on Department website.
Due to the predicted and ongoing phenomena, a yellow alert has been issued for Wednesday 1st May in Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, Lazio, Campania and a large part of Valle d’Aosta, Piedmont, Abruzzo, Molise and Sicily.
