Mayor Tranchida has issued an ordinance regarding the measures adopted in the municipal area of Trapani for the prevention of fires in the 2024 season. Given the ongoing climate changes and the evident emergency conditions linked to drought, which cause serious problems for supply drinking water and irrigation, as well as the anticipation of the summer season which amplifies the risk of forest and urban-rural fires.
During the period between 15 May 2024 and 31 October 2024 it will be prohibited to light fires, use flame appliances, smoke, throw matches, cigars or cigarettes, practice pyrotechnic activities, stop or park on dry vegetation with hot motor vehicles and park vehicles in the unpaved wooded areas of the municipal area of Trapani.
The ordinance also provides for sanctions in case of violation: for each hectare burned, fines range from €100 to €500; in the case of fires caused by actions or activities determined even just for the potential ignition of fire, the administrative sanction provides for a payment of a sum of no less than €2000 and no more than €20,000.
