Modena, Catellani chosen as DS: another bet – Sport

For years Lapressa.it has offered free and independent information to its readers without any type of public contribution. Private advertising covers part of the costs, but it is not sufficient. For this reason we ask those who read us and follow us every day to give us, if they wish, a contribution based on their possibilities. Even a small support, multiplied by the tens of thousands of people from Modena and Emilia-Romagna who read us every day, is fundamental.

After all the rumors, the official press release from the company also arrived; Andrea Catellani is the new Sporting Director of Modena, succeeding Davide Vaira, just two days after his farewell, in which the club worked intensely making all the necessary assessments of the case, and ultimately choosing the line of continuity: that is the appointment of a resource already present within the club, who knows the Gialloblù environment having also been a player, appreciated and esteemed by the Rivetti family and certainly in possession of a good CV that will be able to help him in his role.

Catellani’s choice certainly goes against the grain, because it gives space to a young man (born in 1988) who has always worked with young people and with youth football, and, as a manager, has never had to deal with professional football; not an old sea dog, expert in the category, not the bombastic name with full-blown results but a young man with a lot of enthusiasm, desire to do and grow.

From this point of view, Catellani’s choice represents another gamble, at least on paper; for Catellani however it will represent a great opportunity; he will work in synergy and alongside an expert coach (at this point Bisoli should be moving towards reconfirmation, but the club’s official press release is still missing on this point) who will be able to give useful indications to the new DS, and perhaps convey his own idea of football to him.

Catellani will have to be good at making a transfer, which however will depend greatly on the budget he has available and the availability he will encounter from the environment and the players who will join his list of interest. Catellani, unlike Vaira, has also played football at a high level and perhaps he may have had some useful relationships with club teams, and this could give him the useful keys to open the doors of a market that could become interesting.

Judging the choice regardless becomes difficult, and certainly not correct, because it would only be a pre-judgment, that is to say the expression of an a priori judgment, without knowing, even before having seen him work, and before having an understanding of the team that he will know how to set up.

Men are judged by work, and not by proclamations; the Rivetti family will certainly have evaluated all the opportunities very carefully and if the choice fell on Catellani it would not have been right.

A choice in line with the family’s precedents, without proclamations, without raising voices, without public flag-waving, but which looks at the man and his abilities and also potential for growth; a key and a look that have certainly given results, if only one looks at the family’s path with a careful eye.

If they are roses they will bloom, so at the moment we just need to give Catellani the time, and why not the budget, to work as best as possible.
The company will certainly have already made all the necessary assessments on this point.
