Healthcare professions in Lombardy compared with DG at Welfare Cozzoli

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – A sign of continuity, rather than a starting point. This is how one could define the meeting which took place on 24 April between the Presidents of the Orders of Healthcare Technicians of Medical Radiology and of Technical Healthcare Professions, Rehabilitation and Prevention (TSRM and PSTRP) of Lombardy and the new Director General of Regional Welfare Lombardy, Marco Cozzoli. An appointment strongly desired by the institutional representatives of the Health Professions and promptly welcomed by the DG, with a view to consolidating the dialogue established over the years with the regional healthcare leaders. Also present was the Director of the Personal and Professions Organizational Unit of the Regional Social and Health System, Vittorio Russo. The Coordinator of the regional TSRM and PSTRP Orders and President of the TSRM and PSTRP Order of Brescia, Luigi Peroni, presented to the General Director the professions in the technical health, rehabilitation and prevention area relating to the Orders. “Despite the progress made in recent years for the visibility of the Health Professions, there is still a lot of work to be done in terms of culture and recognition of our role” commented Peroni. “The Welfare representatives are the first interlocutors in this process, because it is not possible to make informed decisions regarding the health system if we do not know all the subjects present in the area. The risk is that of planning actions that are out of focus with respect to the human resources available , incurring overlap between professions and areas of expertise”.

The President of the TSRM and PSTRP Order of Milan, Como, Lecco, Lodi, Monza Brianza and Sondrio, Diego Catania, forcefully underlined the concept, focusing the contribution of Healthcare Professionals in more than 18 pilot projects to be implemented in the area: ” We represent over 30,000 members, with specific skills in many contexts and aware of the responsibility and professional autonomy that comes with it. This awareness must also become a shared asset for the Welfare leaders, who will thus be able to respond to the health needs of the population, always more complex and diversified. For this reason it is essential, on the one hand, to encourage the empowerment of Healthcare Professionals in the professional field, with the establishment of area managements, and on the other to involve the Orders in the decision-making processes, in working groups and in processes of developing guidelines for the health system”. The proposed projects, which range from the activation of screening services to information courses in schools, from interventions in counseling centers to actions to support youth distress, give an idea of the variety of skills contained in the TSRM and PSTRP Orders. “Our professions are an integral, and often driving, part of the evolution of the healthcare system” stated Elena Cossa, President of the TSRM and PSTRP Order of Varese. “The request to keep pace with the progress underway in the various disciplinary areas implies the need to consolidate the dialogue with the regional representatives for training needs, as well as with the Universities and Territorial School Units. We also ask for the support of the Region , in outlining and facilitating new career paths for our professions”. Stefania Simonetti, President of the TSRM and PSTRP Order of Cremona, raised the issue of waiting lists: “We believe that a fundamental contribution in reducing timescales can come, once again, from the involvement of all healthcare professions. Considering carefully the skills of the Professionals, in fact, it is possible to best distribute the performances and the workload among the available profiles”. Finally, the Presidents highlighted their willingness to develop new organizational models for the health system, finding prompt feedback from the interlocutors of the Lombardy Region, who proposed to consult the Orders in special technical tables with the territorial ATS. “There are many fronts on which we can make a difference, if placed in the conditions to do so; we therefore hope that the communication channel with Welfare will be increasingly consolidated” declares President Catania. “In recent years, the comparison with the Lombardy Region has seen us at the forefront of the decision-making, as well as legislative, processes of regional healthcare” states President Peroni. “We recently presented a list of contributions to the Regional Social and Health Plan 2023-2027, always with the aim of maximizing our positive impact on the health system. We will work to ensure that they are welcomed, so that we can intervene where our help is most needed “. – photo of the press office of the TSRM and PSTRP Order of Milan, Como, Lecco, Lodi, Monza Brianza and Sondrio – (ITALPRESS). mgg/com 29-Apr-24 19:54 .
