Besides me and allCommerce Councilor Maurizio Monteverdi, we will have representatives of the Sraffa institute of Crema, in particular of the food and wine sector and some experts in the agri-food panorama of the Crema area. The production procedure that interested companies must follow to request the De.Co. of Palazzo Pignano will obviously be regulated by regulations.

«Furthermore, they will have to respect certain historical standards – continues Crea –: they must be entities with strong local roots and a certified family history. In our municipal area we have many products that could aspire to this recognition. We have cheeses, mustards, meats and sausages».

The possibility of establishing De.Co. brands it has been recognized by law for several years now and there are already hundreds of municipalities in Italy that have established this certification. The administration took the first step, deciding on the birth of the municipal name. Once the commission is in place, a production specification will have to be established and the applications from food companies will be evaluated, with the aim of guaranteeing periodic checks on the product, so that it always respects the original quality.
