PIGNANO PALACE – A De.Co. (municipal name) for typical gastronomic products ‘Made in Palazzo Pignano’. Objective to attract tourism in the sector and challenge the giants of the area: first and foremost Cremona, with nougat, mustard and salami, but also Crema, which recently launched this initiative to promote sweet tortelli, Spongarda, noble salami, Torta Bertolina and other.
There are also excellences at the Palazzo, just think of the Sanavra, typical Cremonese mustardor to Save cheese, produced in various dairies. In short, there is no shortage of typical features. «To obtain the De.Co. the establishment of a municipal commission is envisaged – he clarifies councilor Annalisa Crea – which will be chaired by mayor Giuseppe Dossena. Besides me and allCommerce Councilor Maurizio Monteverdi, we will have representatives of the Sraffa institute of Crema, in particular of the food and wine sector and some experts in the agri-food panorama of the Crema area. The production procedure that interested companies must follow to request the De.Co. of Palazzo Pignano will obviously be regulated by regulations.

The possibility of establishing De.Co. brands it has been recognized by law for several years now and there are already hundreds of municipalities in Italy that have established this certification. The administration took the first step, deciding on the birth of the municipal name. Once the commission is in place, a production specification will have to be established and the applications from food companies will be evaluated, with the aim of guaranteeing periodic checks on the product, so that it always respects the original quality.
