Fabrizio Corsipresident of Empoli, gave an interview to The Tyrrhenian Sea: “If four months ago they had told us that we would be here to play to stay in Serie A for the last 180 minutes, masters of our destiny, we would have signed with blood.”
Things changed with Nicola.
“We are at the epilogue of a difficult and exciting season, there is no point in thinking about what could have been. It’s unfortunate that there is a climate of pessimism, I don’t know if it will really prevail. It almost seems obstinate, but the club and team are aware that we will awaits a difficult task.
Have the latest salvations accustomed anyone badly?
“There are those who might think that finishing on 41 or 43 points is normal for Empoli but that’s not the case. In fact, it’s an extraordinary thing.”
How do you experience the wait?
“There’s only one way, trying to give my best day by day. And in any case I’ve experienced decidedly worse expectations. Like the playout against Vicenza to stay in Serie B, an unforgettable page in our history. Sometimes it went well, others less. In Udine it will be a very important match but it is not necessarily decisive and we must not make it any more difficult than it already is. The performance against Lazio must give us conviction, we just lacked concreteness.”
What do you think about the lack of contemporaneity for those who play to save themselves?
“We use all our energy to play as best we can, the rest is a matter of reasoning to be done later in the League. The option for the TV rights was chosen, but if every year there are evidently more or less expected results, this doesn’t work…”.
