Art world in mourning. The artist Luigi Rincicotti has died, he was 82 years old and lived in Musestre di Roncade in via Principe.

Born in Fano in the Marche region, Rincicotti had attended the Venice School of Art and had been a student of the professor, then headmaster and artist Sandro Pornaro. Until the age of 49 he had taught art in some institutes in Mestre and Venice.

After leaving school he devoted himself to painting full time as a “metaphysical surrealist”. His is a career full of successes: his works have been exhibited all over the world for a total of 250 exhibitions organised; in 1966 he won first prize at the Venice Biennale; in 2010 the Senate of the Republic awarded him the Faber Prize.

He was unable to participate due to a cerebral hemorrhage in 2012 at the inauguration of the Museum of Contemporary Art (Moca Bangkok) where eleven of his works were exhibited. Other important exhibitions were organized in Stockholm and Florida. His paintings are exhibited at the Palazzo dei Giacobini in Altomonte (Cosenza) and at the Cingoli Museum.

He was in love with the Marche and had “taken refuge” in the Roncadese countryside near Ca’ Tron, many people came to visit him in that house. A great friend of his, the former Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Roncade, Giacomo Buldo, remembered him: «A very cultured, kind person, exceptional in human relationships and a very valid artist recognized at an international level. He managed to establish a remarkable empathy with people. With him we organized exhibitions in the municipality and outside.”
