World Safety at Work Day is celebrated on 28 April, for this reason I want to remember all those who are victims of work, yes because, even if it shouldn’t be like this, work causes many victims, it’s like being continuously at war. There are 585,236 workplace accident reports in 2023 of which
1,041 resulting in death, 47,488 occupational diseases reported.
The situation worsens this year, in fact only in the first two months of the year, the reports of accidents at work presented to INAIL were 92,611 (+7.2% compared to the same period in 2023). Of these, 119 had a fatal outcome, 19 more than in 2023
If these aren’t war numbers, what are we talking about?
There is a need to develop an elementary concept in each of us, so elementary that it is often overlooked. SAFETY AT WORK IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR DEVELOPMENT, IT IS AN INVESTMENT, IT IS OFTEN CONFUSED WITH COSTS AND WASTE OF TIME, ON THE CONTRARY IT MUST BE ENCOURAGED.
I hope that the government becomes more incisive from this point of view, politics must address this issue as a priority topic, it is necessary to do everything possible to raise insurmountable barricades against a monster that continues to claim victims.
One of the solutions could be to introduce the subject of prevention into the school environment, and then renew it and maintain it over time with appropriate refresher courses. I know it is not simple, but a solution becomes necessary, starting from training-information with a deeper involvement of the various subjects interested in the production cycle, it would be appropriate to encourage training, the real one which is often, too often confused due to the hassle of bureaucratic obligation to take away the thoughts and attentions are directed to something else.
In short, a sort of general state of labor would be needed to study a common strategy aimed at eradicating this war of white deaths, with a single objective to defeat the evil that is just around the corner and awaits the slightest distraction to strike again.
