The fourth consecutive defeat arrives for Fontana’s Latina, at the Francioni Taranto wins 2-1. A less bitter defeat which, thanks to Casertana’s victory over Sorrento, ensures access to the playoffs for the Nerazzurri. Taranto puts the match on the back foot with a one-two signed by Zonta and Simeri, the Pontini try to take it back at the restart thanks to Mastroianni’s almost immediate goal but the Tarantini manage to take home the three points in the end. Now Latina will have to wait to find out which team they will face in the playoffs. Taranto will be the Pontini’s opponent if the appeal presented to the Apulian Coni Guarantee Board is not successful.
In the 7th minute Latina’s first offensive attack arrives, Paganini kicks but finds a prompt response from Vannucchi who also deflects D’Orazio’s rebound. In the 9th minute Taranto’s response arrives, a deep ball with Kanoute who escapes Vona but shoots high from the edge. In the 16th minute Taranto are dangerous, the ball lost badly by the outgoing Pontini, the Tarantini recover in mid-field and send Zonta shooting from the edge, Guadagno pushes it into the corner. In the 27th minute, Zonta took the lead for Taranto, the ball over Simeri’s defense was timed correctly and the rossoblù number 29 put it into the net with a lob that went past Guadagno. In the 29th minute came Latina’s timid response, D’Orazio’s cross from the left for Mastroianni’s head which didn’t create any particular problems for Vannucchi. In the 34th minute Taranto doubled their lead, the rossoblù attacker found the ball at his feet after a rebounded shot from outside the area and did well to place it in the corner behind Guadagno. In the 39th minute Latina came close to scoring, another cross from D’Orazio, passed behind the Del Sole defense who found Vannucchi’s miracle with his right foot.
Second half
In the 4th minute Latina narrows the gap with Mastroianni, who heads an imperious cross from the right midfield by De Santis. In the 9th minute, Bifulco made a dangerous foray into the Pontine defense but his shot was blocked by Guadagno. In the 11th minute, a free kick from 20 meters for the Nerazzurri, D’Orazio takes the shot with the ball hitting the crossbar and Vannucchi is beaten. After 10 minutes of forcing by the Nerazzurri, Taranto responded with two potentially dangerous restarts, not taking advantage of the spaces granted by the Pontini. In the 33rd minute Ercolano crosses from the back, but the ball is high and Fabrizi almost arrives to push it in. In the 39th minute, a sensational goal for the Nerazzurri, a cross from D’Orazio headed by Capanni who, with a sure shot, missed the target by centimetres.
