Palermo, all registered children will attend the Danisinni nursery

The administrative demarcation line between the fourth and fifth constituencies in Palermo will not deprive around twenty children from attending the Danisinni nursery which will be reopened, after 17 years, next September. On January 29, the Municipality of Palermo opened the enrollment campaign for the 2024/2025 educational year.

50 places available in the newly renovated building with 3 million funds from the Po-Fesr 2014-2020. Surprisingly, however, around twenty children were excluded. Their families, despite living a few tens of meters from the new kindergarten, cannot enroll their children because their residence was outside the district of the kindergarten, the fourth. The borders between two districts divide Danisinni in half.

“We will overcome this IT glitch by modifying the platform that allows registration”, assured the mayor Roberto Lagalla, speaking in a debate on the “Via dei librai” which saw the participation of Brother Mauro Billetta, parish priest of the Church of Sant’Agnese and president of the Comunità di Danisinni association, by Don Cosimo Scordato, rector of San Giovanni Decollato, and which was moderated by the journalist Elvira Terranova. “We will also intervene on the kindergarten garden so that it is accessible to children as soon as possible” added the mayor.
