Messina, fault blocks the turnstiles: ferries paralyzed in the Strait

It is truly incredible what is happening in these minutes in Messina: yet another serious inconvenience for travelers across the Strait who continue to suffer dramatically and daily from the absence of a stable connection between the two shores like the one that only the Bridge over the Strait will be able to offer.

In fact, several hundred people are stuck at the Caronte&Tourist ferry landing stages in the Peloritana city due to a fault in the electrical system which blocked the turnstiles that regulate pedestrian access to the ships.

This situation is creating serious inconveniences and enormous inefficiencies for commuters, workers and travelers on a particularly hot day for the holiday weekend. The situation is unfortunate and unsustainable, also because it is yet another episode that confirms how backward, inefficient, ancient and problematic the current management of connections in the Strait can be, which still in the third millennium is without a bridge and sees its citizens forced to remain in the Middle Ages of backwardness, underdevelopment and desperation.
