SYRACUSE, Utah, May 8, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A single car crash resulted in downed power lines and traffic shutdowns Wednesday afternoon in Syracuse.
The 12:40 pm crash taking out at least one power pole affected the area of 2700 South from 500 West to Bluff Ridge Drive, the Syracuse City Police Department reported online. The driver and sole occupant, a 44-year-old woman, was transported to a hospital for treatment.
“Due to an accident that resulted in downed power lines, a full traffic closure is currently in effect,” the department said in the post an hour after the crash. “Authorities are on the scene, and Rocky Mountain Power is actively working to resolve the situation. Please follow this post for updates.”
Residents, including those near Bluff Ridge Elementary, police advised may experience power outages due to the incident. Police asked motorist to avoid the area to allow emergency services to manage the situation.
Just before 4 pm police noted outages had affected Syracuse City offices.
“City offices and departments, including the police department, are experiencing a phone outage due to the accident. Please call 911 for emergency services, as it is still fully functional.”
For non-emergencies police said contact the Syracuse PD at Davis County Dispatch at 801-451-4150. “Roads in the area have opened, but detours are in place as utility work is completed.
“Please continue to avoid the area if possible.”
