Frost. Among the 260 international clubs, Gela was chosen to host the twentieth International Congress of the Lions Città Murate which took place yesterday at the city’s Eschilo theatre. An excellent result pursued and obtained also thanks to the efforts of Engineer Franco Butera, International Vice President of the Foundation, of Gelesi origins.

This is an important moment, not only to discuss methods of preserving walled cities, but also an interesting initiative for relaunching the image of the city. Members from San Marino, Malta, France and the United Arab Emirates participated in the event.
This year, the conference addressed many topics regarding archaeology, history and political economy, through interventions by renowned experts in the sector such as the archaeologist Rosalba Panvini, the former Superintendent of Ragusa Salvina Fiorilla, Maroc Platania of the university of Catania and the director of the Archaeological Park of Gela Luigi Maria Gattuso.

Thanks to the extraordinary opening on April 25th, Liaons members from abroad and beyond were able to visit the Timoleonte walls of Caposoprano and the memorial park.
