Hospitals and community homes ready, new equipment for 7.5 million

ROVIGO – Four construction sites have already started and another two are starting in May, to build local structures, community homes and community hospitals. Among the projects financed and illustrated to the mayors are the three community hospitals of Rovigo, Trecenta and Adria, for a total of 70 beds and an investment of around 2 million euros. These are health facilities – in Adria and Trecenta already active, but which are enjoying adaptations and modernisations, while in Rovigo the works will start in May – which offer healthcare with a light intensity of care and which are aimed at taking care of patients with chronic pathologies or frailty, to thus strengthen intermediate assistance, in collaboration with hospital services, general practitioners, social assistance and those who provide assistance at a family or professional level.

COMMUNITY HOUSES
Also noteworthy for Polesine is the investment in community houses which, as the general director Pietro Girardi specifies, are strategically placed, taking into account the needs and specificities of the territory”. There will be five: in Rovigo in the socio-health citadel (start of work in September), Badia Polesine (work started on 8 April), Castelmassa (start of work on 8 April), and then in Porto Tolle and Adria, where they will start in May. The amount financed with Pnrr funds is almost 8 million euros. The management and professionals of the Polesine Ulss 5 company also specifically explained to the mayors of Polesine the functioning of the services that will be activated. The community homes will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will offer local health and social-health services to the population (general practitioners, continuity of care and specialist clinics, to give a few examples). However, it will not be just the local healthcare system that will enjoy the benefits of the Pnrr.

TECHNOLOGY
The “work in progress” also concerns the projects financed to modernize technologies by replacing large healthcare equipment, for a total value of 7.5 million euros. Thus, two nuclear accelerators, two fixed radiological systems (a third is in the testing phase), a single photon emission tomography (Spect Ct) and a mammograph have already been installed and tested. Furthermore, the Pnrr Salute funds also finance the digitalisation of hospitals, with particular reference to IT security: digital modernization has already been started for the Analysis Laboratory, Suem 118, Pma and Pathological Anatomy services, and the one dedicated to the Radiology, Transfusion and Medicine Logistics services will also follow.
The presentation at the Conference of Mayors of the progress of the Pnrr Salute projects in Polesine therefore showed not only new opportunities but a true “revolution”. «At the center – underlines director Girardi – there are always the patient and all citizens, but today they will be at the center of a system where the potential of digitalisation, telemedicine, the proximity of services will be able to improve access, quality, efficiency and sustainability of the National health system”.
