«The Superintendence will check the damage»

Daniele Berardinelli, councilor for Decor, have there been any updates regarding the case of the “cleaned” monument? The production said it wanted to interact with the Municipality.

What emerged from this summit?

«That they are very sorry for what happened. And who have made themselves available to cover the costs if there are damages to be repaid. I explained to him that from my report it doesn’t seem like there are any, apart from a discoloration (of the graffiti, ed.). However, the Superintendency will then make the final assessment. If the color were to go away, I wouldn’t see any further damage. However, the production realized that intervening in this way was something of an exaggerated superficiality.”

Why not make them pay for cleaning the Monument? It would also be a nice way to show their regret by doing something useful for the city.

«They offered to do just that. But since we were already planning to do a free test with a company’s product – if it’s good for the Monument, it’s good everywhere – if the writing were to go away, there would be no need for this interest. Maybe we will find another way to make a contribution to the cultural activity of the Municipality. However, if there is damage, they will clearly have to do something. They will cover the expense.”

From production they say that they had nothing to do with what happened, that it was a decision made by some technicians. Do you understand?

«It may be, but they (the production, in the Municipality, ed.) came specifically because they feel responsible as an organizational machine. However, the responsibilities remain personal.”
