“A bad project from the beginning.” He doesn’t mince words Sonia Mazzoleni, group leader of the Calolzio minority of Bene Comune to comment on the solution chosen by the Government and Anas for the construction of the new Lecco Bergamo, a highly anticipated work that has been blocked for a decade now. Precisely from this perspective came the harsh criticism of the Calolzio opposition which, in the last few hours, presented a motion to the City Council on the topic which will be discussed on the evening of Monday, 29 April 2024, during the scheduled session of the assize.
Bene Comune criticism of Lecco Bergamo: a motion presented in the Municipality
“The project represents a provincial vision and perspective – comments Mazzoleni – which in fact, right from the start, has given up looking at a solution capable of bypassing the via dei Sassi exit which transfers traffic to a highly sensitive area due to the presence of the Lavello Monastery, the Rota Institute and the major cemetery, an area also at hydrogeological risk due to the presence of the lake”.
Already in the Extraordinary City Council, the many citizens present expressed numerous doubts about the usefulness of the work in relation to the inconveniences presented in the Mayor’s report to the inhabitants. Inconveniences which, according to Bene Comune, will block the commercial, economic and social activity of an entire city for six to eight years during the project’s implementation phase.
“During that evening – continues Mazzoleni – the many questions asked were followed by unconvincing answers from a Mayor who always left himself out during the various stages of planning. Of the series, “I don’t live in Calolzio anyway and I won’t be the one to manage the critical issues of the realization of the work”. But now our citizens will be able to rest easy because faced with a work that will traumatize an entire city, here is our undersecretary Mauro Piazza and the traffic advisor Mattia Micheli for Villa Locatelli, perhaps aware that a “Lecco-Bergamo” which emerges at Lavello is of no use to anyone, propose that the “line” drawn on the map of the PTCP of the Province which leads from Lavello to the Cantù bridge, has obtained the planning, however without additional resources”.
Then again: “It’s a shame that, as we all know, anything can be said during the electoral campaign, forgetting that to date there is a preliminary project that comes out at Lavello and that, unfortunately for Calolzio, remains that way. That the planning with the exit at Lavello is wrong, the same report from the Municipal Administration of Caloziocorte tells us so which in the closing notes, also in light of the various critical issues raised by Anas, states as follows: “perhaps it would have been useful to explore a further alternative route that would go beyond the town of Calolziocorte upstream, thus also contemplating the future lot with entry into the tunnel from the entrance to Chiuso and arriving directly at the roundabout of the Cesare Cantù bridge”. For this reason we believe that now is the time not to stop a strategic public work for an entire territory, but to rethink a different design capable of giving real answers and road solutions that are respectful of the urban living of our city. If not now, when, this is what our motion is asking of the entire Calolziocorte City Council.”
