In the last round of Japan Rugby League One the South African center Jesse Kriel was the protagonist of a sensational try. The 30-year-old former Bulls attacking midfielder drew applause in the match his Yokohama Canon Eagles lost 43-14 to the Saitama Wild Knights.

Down 10-0, in the 13th minute Jesse Kriel collected a loose ball lost by his opponents and set his powerful legs in motion towards the center line. No defender was able to keep up with him and the Springbook center cleverly changed possession of the ball from his right hand to his left to block a tackle attempt.

In the end the former Blue Bulls centre, after a run from his own 22, finished his run with the flag by smashing the oval and marking the first for the Yokohama Canon Eagles, who were down 31-14 at halftime and in the in the second half they did not recover the deficit which on the contrary widened by another 12 points.

Despite the defeat, the Yokohama Canon Eagles were already sure of playing the semifinal of the Championship on May 18th, again against the Saitama Wild Knights. In the other semi-final, Toshiba Brave Lupus will face Suntory Sungoliath, again in Tokyo.
