The clash between the FdI group leader Jacopo Toccaceli and the deputy mayor and budget councilor Giovanni Zinni of the same party took place on Monday morning in the council commission. The issue: the failure to implement the compensation law approved about 8 months ago in the city council. A measure, moreover, proposed by Zinni himself and which would serve to track down citizens who are in arrears or default on the payment of fines or municipal taxes.

The reactions

Vitriolic words flew. «It’s not possible that after all this time this rule hasn’t been followed up» Toccaceli entered with a straight leg on Zinni who, at first, was completely taken aback. Not to mention the opposition, spectators of a completely unexpected scene. The repercussions on the entire majority are inevitable. Nobody wants to speak from the seats of the League. «The reason for Toccaceli’s attitude? You have to ask him” distances himself from Vincenzo Rossi, group leader in the Forza Italia city council and president of the VII Commission (Budget). Of course he was there the other day too. Rossi tries to downplay it: «Toccaceli’s tones are always a bit like that» he plays down.

That is: to implement the compensation it is necessary that the offices that find non-compliance communicate the names of the officials who provide contributions and benefits to citizens. Defaulters, therefore, would be deprived of any contributions if they receive them. An issue certainly not so important as to determine Toccaceli’s frontal attack on his party and government colleague. But anyway, the omelette was made. In the commission, to everyone’s disbelief, a chill descended. As well as in the majority immediately afterwards. «But no, I wouldn’t say that» softens the group leader of Ancona Protagonista, Arnaldo Ippoliti who gives as an example the frictions that existed in the old DC (where he himself comes from culturally). «It happened often, it was a way of comparing ourselves internally» he explains.
