Five days dedicated to Lucanian craftsmanship with events, exhibitions and meetings | The Program (PDF File)

From 1 to 5 May 2024, Matera will host the third edition of “Fucina Madre”, an event dedicated to Lucanian craftsmanship and design, which will see the participation of 44 artisans, makers and designers from all over Basilicata. The event will be held in the spaces of Le Monacelle, in via Riscatto 15.

The event, organized by the Territorial Promotion Agency of Basilicata, offers a wide spectrum of artisanal products, from ceramics to goldsmith’s art, from wood to crochet, from digital art to the recovery of ancient manufacturing traditions. During the exhibition, visitors will be able to admire and purchase the exhibitors’ creations and participate in a series of collateral events, including theatrical performances, conferences and workshops.

A ribbon cutting is scheduled for May 1 at 11 a.m., followed by a stage show at 7 p.m. The program also includes conferences on the theme of the souvenir as a guardian of travel memories and on the protection and valorization of the Lucanian artistic heritage, as well as thematic exhibitions such as “The Eroticomiko Object by Riccardo Dalisi” and “A jewel for peace”, which exhibit works by students and emerging designers.

Fucina Madre not only celebrates local craftsmanship but also promotes a model of sustainable tourism that enhances the Lucanian communities and traditions. Entrance to all activities is free.
