During the interview given to MilanNews.it, my colleague Carlos Passerini from Corriere dello Sport took stock of Milan’s situation:

Six consecutive defeats in the derby. Do players underestimate the specific weight of the match? Or, given the goals conceded constantly in the first minutes, has a sort of fear of losing been created that leads to losing?
“There’s a bit of everything. There’s a bit of fear of losing which then ‘helps’ you to lose. Milan certainly lacks a bit of identity: the fact that this year they were a team new and the lack of some Italian players which in this sense helps to perceive the profound meaning of a derby. Having so many foreigners perhaps doesn’t help you understand what this match means, but at the basis of everything there is Inter who is clearly stronger and deservedly won the scudetto.”

Cardinale speaks of a Milan that must be successful and remain successful. The names circulating for the bench seem to be directed more towards a more construction project
“Milan’s project is actually very clear, that is to combine sporting results with corporate ones. The club has made no secret of playing a double game. I have said it several times, in football you cannot achieve results in the medium-long term in one sense if you don’t get them in the other. Unfortunately it’s not the football of 20 years ago, of the patrons who supported the clubs for fun. Now it’s a different thing, being able to combine sporting and corporate results is difficult but sometimes you have to look at the positive side. Even if it is difficult now, because the collapse was thunderous and it is right that everyone takes responsibility. In recent years Milan has grown, it is not where it was 10 years ago. Today it is a team that knows win in Europe, who won a title. Of course, the journey is not completed.”

Based on RedBird’s parameters, what is the ideal profile for the Milan bench?
“This week is decisive in my opinion to start the discussion. The profile is very clear: Milan does not have a name, but an identikit and it is already something. He must have clear ideas, he must be a coach with an international profile, innovative, also young and compatible with Milan’s corporate project. What is certain is that this choice cannot be wrong.”
