Il Popolo della Famiglia intervenes with a note following the declarations of the Vice President of the Emilia Romagna Region Irene Priolo, who, referring to what has been done one year after the flood, expressed the intention to relocate businesses and residents who they are located in areas defined as at risk.

Mirko De Carli, National Councilor of the People of the Family and municipal councilor of Riolo Terme: “It is very serious that one year after the floods that damaged Romagna, the appropriate corrective interventions have not been identified to make businesses and citizens safe.

Implementing the delocalization strategy is a strong alarm signal.

We have levees that still need to be restored. The footbridge, yet another, on the right bank of the Senio River denotes total confusion. It is necessary to underline, despite ourselves, that the action of the Commissioner’s Structure, also in terms of interventions for the protection of the territory, has so far still been too ineffective. Returning to the topic of relocation, which as People of the Family we avoid, we are amazed at how we are not even able to understand the enormous housing emergency we find ourselves in, considering the difficulties even before the flood events. The only solution is to invest in the territories with pragmatism. The banks are repaired with excavators, not with walkways.”

Alessandro Vitali, municipal manager of Il Popolo della Famiglia in Faenza and regional secretary of the Youth Movement of the PDF, continues: “After the first weeks that followed the two floods in Faenza, I had requested the administration of the Emilia Romagna regional government due to the evident shortcomings in terms of investments and maintenance in the territories. Well, a year later I remain even more convinced of how successful my request was. The Commissioner structure created by the Meloni Government has in fact acted alongside the Region, not allowing a sudden change of pace on the management of the territory. Furthermore, in recent weeks, I would like to point out that governor Bonaccini is more interested in the race for the European elections; the continuous outings of Vice President Irene Priolo are proof of this. The territories of the Union of Romagna Faentina need strategic works for safety. Relocating means continuing along the lines of the terrible work that led us to the events of last year. We invite the Government to pay more attention, because this is a point of no return.”
