On the occasion of Liberation Day on April 25th, the traditional ceremony was held in Piazza Unione Europea, in Messina, with the laying of laurel wreaths at the War Memorial. The event was attended by civil, military and religious authorities, fighting and military associations.

“Freedom is the most important principle on which the Constitution is based together with the principles of Democracy, Equality and Pluralism. In memory of the women and men to whom we owe freedom. So as not to forget, because those dark pages of history must not return”, says Mayor Federico Basile.
