The president of the Autonomous Province of Trento participated this morning in Trento in the celebrations for April 25th. Together with him also the provincial health councilor, as well as the mayor of the capital city, the government commissioner Filippo Santarelli, the deputy police commissioner of Trento Andrea Vitalone, numerous civil and military authorities and a large participation of citizens.

In his speech the president – recalling how the date of 25 April should not be considered the prerogative of a single political area but is a shared heritage to be safeguarded and defended together – underlined the need, in a scenario characterized by conflicts at the gates of Europe , to look at what moved the men and women in April 1945 who, having returned from dramatic years, managed to rebuild the country, strengthened by their newfound freedom and animated by the desire for peace and democracy. The president also recalled the impact that the nationalist and centralist dimensions had on the autonomy and history of Trentino, on the rights denied to linguistic minorities, hoping that today, faced with unprecedented difficulties, solutions can be found that put an end to the conflicts in respect for freedoms and peoples.
