A video circulating on social media shows a motorist driving a large-engined car hurtling at breakneck speed, grazing scooters and cars, along Galleria Vittoria and via Chiatamone in Naples. The crazy ride, which hovers around 200 km/h, takes place on city streets with speed limits of 30 km/h. Not satisfied with the stunt, the motorist films himself driving with only one hand on the steering wheel and publishes the video on social media.
The video aroused the indignation of MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who commented: “With the images posted as a trophy, the protagonist celebrates his profound ignorance. The bitter fate of the many deaths on the roads and the innocent victims of reckless driving have taught us nothing.”
Borrelli then called for exemplary punishments for chi behaves in this way, proposing the revocation of the license for life for “hijackers”. You also invited the postal police to use videos on social media to identify and sanction these individuals with the utmost severity.
“It is unacceptable to allow such behavior, especially after the many deaths we have had to mourn in the streets of Naples,” added Borrelli, citing the cases of Elvira Zibra, hit by a scooter in via Caracciolo, and Michele Angelillo, hit in Galleria Laziale.
“We need to put an end to the slaughter that takes place on our streets every day,” concluded Borrelli, “and it is certainly not with the wicked rules of the new highway code that we will obtain concrete results”.
The Alleanza Verdi Sinistra MP called for decisive action by the authorities to combat the phenomenon of wild motoring and guarantee safety on the roads.
