Giro d’Italia, the carnival of Saint Heraclius present at the Foligno-Perugia stage
Also this year the Carnival of the boys of Sant’Eraclio on the occasion of the seventh stage of the Giro d’Italia Foligno – Perugia will not fail to offer two-wheel enthusiasts its original allegorical creations of papier-mâché the result of incessant volunteer work. The Pink Caravan will pass through the city of Quintana on Friday 10 May. It is a 40.6 kilometer individual time trial with an altitude difference of 400 meters clearly divided into two parts.
The first is approximately 32 km flat and leads to the foot of Perugia. You face the climb of Casaglia with significant gradients (16%) followed by the road always ascending until arriving in the capital of Perugia.
The papier-mâché and ironworkers of the Carnival of Sant’Eraclio, makers of dreams and builders of ideas, will prepare along the race route the allegorical float “Steampunk Fantasy” created by the “Flash Back” shipyard whose protagonists I am a grandiose helicopter and the pilot who looks like a boiler. Both will catapult people into the fantasy world of the Victorian era that celebrates the achievements of the steam engine. At 9 am on Friday 10 May in the area reserved for the start of the Giro d’Italia located in the Plateatico car park, the “Fantasy Bicycle” created by the artist Roberto Mosconi, a modern “Archimede Pythagorean” belonging to the “Flash Back” shipyard, will be exhibited.
“It is – declares Roberto Mosconi – the first battery-powered electric tricycle made up of some barrels where hot steam is produced which, channeled, allows a grandiose and picturesque hot air balloon to hover in the air. On top there is a golden bird that represents free flight.” An appendix of the “Steampunk Fantasy” float that attracted curiosity and considerable appreciation in the winter edition of the event. The Carnival was assisted in this initiative by the Board of Directors of the Comunanza Agraria of Sant’Eraclio.
