Lucca: injures policeman with a stone before the match against Carrarese. 20 year old arrested

LUCCA – The police arrested a 20-year-old young man, resident in Carrara, a Carrarese fan. Before the Lucchese Libertas 1905 – Carrarese football match, played on the afternoon of Sunday 21 April 2024, a group of visiting fans, who arrived in Lucca on board the 2.43pm train, as soon as they got off the train, tried to attack four people of North African origin, mistaking them for fans from Lucca, and then moving towards the adjacent car park, believing that there were other Libertas fans.

During the activities aimed at calming people down and redirecting them on board the buses, set up for transport to the stadium, a Carrarese fan threw a large stone in the direction of the Digos operators of Lucca and Massa who intervened to report the calm, hitting an operator of the Digos Fan Squad of Massa, causing him personal injuries judged to be healable in 7 days barring complications. The public order service prepared then managed to restore calm, completing the transfer of the visiting fans to the stadium, where the match took place regularly without further problems.

The investigative activity carried out by the Digos of the Lucca Police Headquarters, corroborated by the video media of the local Scientific Police Department in collaboration with the Digos of Massa and Carrara, has allowed the identification of the Carrarese fan responsible for throwing the stone and the consequent injuries to the State Police operator. The young Carrarese fan, resident in Carrara, was therefore arrested, in deferred flagrante delicto, for the crime of throwing dangerous material (art.6 bis c.1 L.401/1989) and personal injury (art.582 CP) , multi-aggravated crimes because they were committed against a public official on duty and on the occasion of a sporting event.

He was also reported to the competent authority for the crime of misrepresentation (art. 5 L. 152/75), as he tried to hide his face with a mask during the commission of the crime. The young 20-year-old was taken to his home under house arrest: his arrest was validated by the investigating judge of the Court of Massa who ordered the signature and transmission of the documents to the Court of Lucca competent on the merits.
