18.00 – They had been back together for a few years, after a period of separation, Pietro Delia, accountant, 65 years old and Laura Lupo, 62 years old, municipal police officer, were found dead this morning in the house in via Notarbartolo in Palermo not far from the Falcone tree and the home, guarded by the financial police, of a magistrate working in Rome. The woman would have held the service pistol and she would have fired four shots at her husband which hit him in the chest and abdomen and then she would have turned the weapon against herself before wounding herself and then taking her own life.
In the first examination by the medical examiner, injuries to the woman’s neck and head were found. An autopsy will be performed next week.
The firefighters discovered the bodies, called by the neighbors and by the daughter who was unable to contact her parents. The young woman, also an accountant, had an appointment with her father to go to the office located in via Nicolò Gallo. “We could never think of such a thing,” said a family member near the house. The carabinieri of the provincial command found the two bodies lying in the kitchen. The woman was still holding the gun.
12.00 – Husband and wife were found dead in their apartment in via Notarbartolo in Palermo.
It was the couple’s daughter who called the fire brigade because no one answered the doorbell and she was unable to enter the house. The firefighters, opening the door, found the bodies of the two spouses: his name was Pietro Delia, a 66-year-old former accountant; she is Laura Lupo, a 62-year-old municipal police officer. At the moment it cannot be ruled out that it could be a case of murder-suicide. There were no signs of forced entry into the apartment and there were gunshot marks on the bodies. A gun was also found.
The 118 health workers intervened and confirmed the death of the two. The investigations are being conducted by the Carabinieri, who are carrying out the investigations. The house is located in the condominium at number 49 in via Emanuele Notarbartolo.
