“More than twenty days have passed since the motion, voted by the entire La Spezia municipal council, with which the mayor was asked, in his capacity as majority shareholder of Atc Esercizio, to verify, with the utmost attention, the times and methods of the assignment of the tender for the subcontracting of TPL services. Nothing has happened since then.” The Democratic Party’s advisory group returns to the topic, demanding answers after the subcontracted service workers themselves raised yet another cry of alarm for their future. “Today, to the concerns about the economic solidity of the potential successor company – we read in the note from the Democratic Party -, we add those relating to the staff and the possibility of regularly carrying out, in the height of the tourist season and therefore in the period with the highest number of passengers, the service. It is now clear: we are close to the breaking point on all fronts and the ones who will pay the price will be the workers, forced to work increasingly tight and demanding shifts, and the users, who will risk seeing the cancellation of many services”.
And again: “We ask, for the umpteenth time, the administration and the top management of ATC, to clarify why it is now clear that something has not worked and is not working. The handover between the old and new management, scheduled for July 1st, is almost impossible. Admit, without hesitation, that you were wrong. The self-protection tender should be withdrawn and a technical extension should be granted to the current manager, to allow workers to be able to carry out their tasks peacefully during the summer months and users to be able to benefit from a regular service. We need to announce a tender again, this time committing people who have full knowledge and mastery of the TPL subject to process it and define its terms, to avoid continuing to navigate by sight and without guarantees for workers and users”.
