Foggia. In the frame of April 25, 2024, the city of Foggia united in a moving tribute to the memory of the fallen and the strength of the resistance, solemnly celebrating Liberation Day. On a day full of historical significance, the citizens of Foggia paid homage to the values of freedom, democracy and solidarity that characterized the period of the Italian Resistance.
The celebrations began in the morning at Piazza XX Settembre, where an emotional crowd gathered to commemorate the heroes who fought for freedom during the dark years of the Second World War. Among the authorities present, the figure of the mayor of Foggia, Maria Aida, stands out Episcopoand the prefect Maurizio Valiantwho led the ceremony with respect and solemnity.
Mayor Episcopo opened the celebrations with a touching speech, in which he recalled the courage and sacrifice of those who fought for Italy’s freedom. He underlined the importance of preserving historical memory and passing on to young people the values of justice and freedom for which so many gave their lives.
During the ceremony, bouquets of flowers were placed at the foot of the war memorial, a tangible symbol of the sacrifice of many. The city band then performed the national anthem, while a solemn procession paid homage to the victims of the war.
