Lamezia Terme – “In Lamezia Terme, good practices on assets confiscated from organized crime are proceeding apace through their social reuse as a preventive, significant and effective measure to combat mafia-type phenomena”. Thus begins Fernando Nucifero – leader of the Lamezzo civic movement “Patto Sociale” – for whom “the local government in terms of management of real estate assets seized from the underworld is to be considered among the most transparent and virtuous national territorial bodies with important goals achieved forcefully and courage. From this perspective, the announcement of negotiated procedures aimed at awarding the redevelopment and valorisation works of wealth stolen from delinquent groups is the latest news – underlines the lawyer Nucifero.
“In particular – the exponent of ‘Patto Sociale’ points out – these are two interventions financed within the Pnrr funds for a total sum exceeding one million euros which concern a program called “Thoughts and Words” relating to a building already assigned to the Progetto Sud community and another called ‘Mamas Lucky Friends Center’ referring to a building already assigned to the Lucky Friends association. Properties which once – concludes Nucifero – were an expression of mafia power and which today, however, they will still become more opportunity for civil and social growth for our community thanks to the synergistic intentions of the Municipal Administration which has always given political priority to actions and initiatives of educational promotion and cultural contrast to criminal associations by preparing real, strategic, incisive and innovative ways to attack the economic resources of the mafias by transforming the requisitioned assets into opportunities useful to the population”.
