Avellino.

In the gardens of Piazza Kennedy people continue to deal. Two non-EU citizens were stopped by the police while they were busy exchanging drugs. One ended up in handcuffs. This is a 24-year-old Gambian who was found with 45 grams of hashish, already divided into doses ready to be sold, and with a sum of money which investigations revealed to be proceeds from drug dealing. It was the officers of the Flying Section who arrested the foreigner. The young man was confined in the Bellizzi Irpino prison.

In particular, during an extraordinary control activity of the territory also aimed at monitoring any presence of irregular citizens in the territory, the policemen of the Avellino Police Headquarters surprised two non-EU citizens in Piazza Kennedy, one of whom was intent on giving up some wrappings in exchange for a sum of money.

During the check, one of the subjects attempted to get rid of a sachet and this circumstance was noticed by the officers who immediately proceeded to recover it and establish that it could be a possible narcotic substance. This made it necessary to subject them to a personal search, following which approximately 45 grams of narcotic substance were found, already divided into doses, as well as tools usually used for cutting, as well as a sum of money believed to be the proceeds of the illicit activity. Subsequent investigations, using “narcotests”, carried out at the Scientific Police laboratory, confirmed the positive result of the cannabis test.

Considering the quantity of narcotic substance found, the division into doses and the packaging activity, as well as the method and circumstances of the action, elements which made it possible to lean towards the destination of the drugs found to third parties, the non-EU citizen stopped was declared under arrest. Following what was ascertained, the Public Prosecutor ordered the 24-year-old to be sent to prison, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority. For the buyer, however, the relevant administrative dispute was proceeded with. During the service, the positions of a further 10 non-EU citizens who were found to be in compliance with the authorizations relating to their stay in the national territory were checked. The charges are currently provisional and the guilt of the arrested person will only be ascertained at the outcome of the trial.
