Roma won the first leg of this championship against Napoli, after a series of seven consecutive matches without success against the Neapolitans in the competition (2D, 5P). The last time the yellows found success in both seasonal matches against the blues in Serie A dates back to 1997/98 (6-2 and 2-0 on that occasion).

Napoli have remained unbeaten in each of their last five home games against Roma in Serie A (W3, D2), the last time they recorded a longer run of home games without defeat against the Giallorossi in the competition dates back to May 1989 and April 1995 (seven on that occasion).

Six of the last seven goals scored in matches between Roma and Napoli in Serie A have come from the 75th minute onwards, including the two most recent scored by the Giallorossi in the first leg of this championship (Pellegrini in the 76th minute and Lukaku in the 90+ 6′).

Considering the direct clashes between the teams currently in the top eight positions in the standings, Roma are the ones who have obtained the fewest points: eight (two wins and two draws against seven defeats) – followed by Napoli, with 10.

Napoli have conceded goals in each of their last 12 league matches and only twice in their history have they recorded a longer streak of consecutive matches without keeping a clean sheet in Serie A: 13 between December 1937 and March 1938 and 17 between August 1997 and January 1998.

Having found the net early in six of their first seven games under Daniele De Rossi on the bench in Serie A, Roma have failed to score in the first 45 minutes in five of their most recent six.

Francesco Calzona won three of his first nine matches as Napoli coach in Serie A (4N, 2P): in this championship, after the same number of benches, Walter Mazzarri had also recorded exactly three successes, while Rudi Garcia had obtained two more after as many matches as coach of the Neapolitans. The last manager who recorded a maximum of three successes after his first 10 matches ever as coach of the Campania region in the top flight was Roberto Donadoni in 2008/09 (one in the first 10).

Although Napoli is the team that takes the most shots in this Serie A (555 at the moment), the Neapolitans recorded a success rate of 9%, 12 teams did better, including Roma, who with 14.6% (first of the recovery of the last minutes of the match against Udinese) occupies the second position in this ranking, behind only Inter (15.3%).

Matteo Politano, who scored his first goal in Serie A against Roma (on 20 September 2015 with Sassuolo), was involved in six goals against the Giallorossi in the competition (two goals and four assists) and has not scored against any opponent. better (six also against Genoa, Milan and Hellas Verona). The Napoli winger has been involved in 13 goals in the current tournament (8G+5A) and has only done better in 2017/18 (14) considering a single season in the top flight.

Stephan El Shaarawy has scored five goals in his last six Serie A matches against Napoli at Diego Armando Maradona: in the three points for a win era (since 1994/95) no player has scored more away goals at this stadium than outside of Roma (five also for Edin Dzeko).
