“Cà Morelli the thread that unites us”

The Modiglian artist Idilio Galeotti brought one of his works to Verona a few days ago to commemorate, on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the liberation from Nazi-fascism, the massacre of Cà Morelli above Tredozio which occurred on 20 January 1944. It is a plaque with ceramic panel, entitled ‘The massacre of Cà Morelli’. The aim of the work is to remember the sacrifice of the many boys who lost their lives during the Resistance. The plaque was delivered to the Anpi of Verona. The unveiling will take place today at 5pm and is part of the program of events for Liberation Day. Galeotti illustrated the reasons for this initiative: “History links our territory to the city of Verona because three of the partisans involved fell in combat, thirteen were deported to a concentration camp in Germany and seven were taken to a prison in Verona, for then being shot on April 4th at the walls”. “Today more than ever there is a need to remember events like this – concludes Galeotti –, to make them become moments of contemporary life through art and the involvement of school students, in

that the values of resistance, freedom and democracy are the founding bases for looking to the future with confidence”.
