“The ACLI celebrates its 80th anniversary this year. But 80 years have also passed since the final and most terrible moment of the Second World War. Bitter coincidence which, however, after a long time, gives us back the responsibility to continue in that aim of peace, democracy and unity that moved Achille Grandi, the founders of the ACLI and also our fathers of Europe and constituent fathers and mothers. 80 years of peace followed, taken for granted, sometimes despised, considered a useless compromise. Then, war knocked on our door. Unexpected, unexpected, sudden.” Thus the national President of the ACLI, Emiliano Manfredoniain a note released on the occasion of Liberation Day.

“So, for this April 25th, let’s say it out loud: we believe in the Constitution. Our generation never thought we would see war in Europe, yet it happens: between Russia and Ukraine, between Israel and Palestine, just a few kilometers from us. So, Liberation is not just a story of the past, but a story in which we are deeply immersed. For this reason it is important that the aclisti with their flags are present in the demonstrations that will be held throughout Italy, starting from the great national demonstration in Milan, to reaffirm their will to defend and promote the common values that April 25th represents”.
