The “Rowing Endurance 2024 – Porte dello Jonio Cup” will take place in Taranto on Thursday 25 April, in the enchanting setting of the old city. This is a cross-country race on 10-oared boats and national gozzo which will be held over a 3100 meter course. The competition’s competition venue is Mar Piccolo; the boats will have to circumnavigate the old city with departure and arrival in front of the Liberty shelter. There will also be a folkloristic race on two-oared gozzo boats. Numerous crews have already registered, including one from Malta. Over 200 athletes will participate. Departure at 9.30.

The event, now in its third edition, is organized by the Asd Palio of Taranto, the Porte dello Jonio Nhood shopping center of Taranto and the Italian Fixed Seat Rowing Federation, with the patronage of the Municipality and the Province of Taranto. “Rowing Endurance 2024” strengthens the close bond between the Ionian capital and its sea, a very strong identity trait that initiatives of this type help to enhance and promote. Visitors and tourists, in fact, will be able to follow the races from the most beautiful and evocative corners of the old city which offers breathtaking views. An opportunity for sport and tourism.

Full satisfaction for the organization of the third edition is expressed by Francesco Simonetti, president of the Asd Palio of Taranto. “We managed once again – he says – to have historic marines from Sicily, Abruzzo, Molise and foreign crews from Malta participate in this event. Thus opens the competitive season of traditional rowing on typical Italian boats. The regatta will be visible for free from the beautiful views of the sea that our old city offers. I thank the director of Porte dello Jonio who once again believed in promoting the area through this unique event for Taranto”.

“Concretely contributing to the organization of highly prestigious activities like this – adds Mauro Tatulli, director of the Porte dello Jonio Nhood shopping center – is a source of great satisfaction for us and a way of making our closeness felt to the territory we are committed to every day to support. People are at the heart of our business and everything we do. We want to generate a virtuous circle so that those who enter our shopping center have the perception of being in a dynamic and multifunctional space, capable of generating added value for the Taranto community”.
