RAGUSA – If in Steven Spielberg’s famous film “The Terminal” the character played by Tom Hanks remained stranded at the airport in New York due to his passport being invalid due to a coup d’état in his country of origin, the reality in which a young Tunisian finds himself trapped is far more disturbing. The young man is in fact unable to get off the ship that was supposed to take him to Sicily because his visa has obvious irregularities. And so the Tunisian has been forced to remain on board the ship for several days now, constantly shuttling between Lazio and Sicily. All this after the young Tunisian had signed a work contract with a cooperative in the Ragusa area, spending all the money he had. But something didn’t work in the process, and the visa is not in order to allow the young man to set foot on the island.

A surreal story, made worse by the fact that the young man lives with only one kidney, and requires special nutrition and adequate care, which, obviously, cannot be guaranteed on board a ship. The young man’s lawyer, after the story was made public by the victim’s sister, is therefore working hard to remedy the irregularity and finally allow the young Tunisian to set foot in Sicily.
